My story

I was diagnosed with stage 3B Lobular Carcinoma with lymph node involvement on April 1, 2008. A swollen lymph node under my arm was my only symptom. Nothing was shown on my mamogram the day I was diagnosed. An ultrasound showed a 8cm long mass. I endured grueling rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and surgeries. By the love of my family and friends and my faith in God, I made it through with a new appreciation of life!

Nesting

I never really got to go through the nesting that comes with having babies since I ended up in the hospital at 30 weeks. This powerful need to prepare has been happening to me now, not for babies, but for absence. Living with three members of the male species strengthens my need to get ready. My list of things to get done before Monday is pretty extensive. Getting the house in order, laundry done, homework projects completed, dishes all washed, grocery store, errands, sheets changed, bills paid, checkbook balanced are just a few.......I'm halfway done and will be able to attend a soccer game, memorial service and church this weekend then I will be on club med vacation as my surgeon calls it. She says it'll be club med without the fun and sun. I can only imagine this... I am really going to miss teaching. I adore our class and am so glad I had the first three weeks to get to know them. What a great profession teaching is. I will be out until mid November so I can fully recover and complete all radiation. Bill or Nancy, my dear sister in law, will keep the blog updated on Monday after surgery. Prayers for steady surgical hands, comfort for my family and healing are appreciated. Surgery is set for 10:30 on Monday.

My prayers will most certainly be with you and your family on Monday! You're in the home stretch from your long ordeal and you'll be back to your normal life before you know it...with much perkier boobies than the rest of us!
Love, Jody

Hi Kathy,

Just keep your very fun, positive attitude, and you'll have all the doctors in stitches as well. I wish I could be there with you, but you know I am there with you in spirit.

Love always,

Jeanne & Larry

Your faith in the Lord has actually calmed me just wondering how you are doing. We are praying for you and the guys. We know everything will go well and that this will be a new beginning for all of you. Then we won't be able to keep our eyes off your "soccer balls" at the soccer games. Hee hee, just kidding. All of our love to you and the family.

Love in the Lord,
Armi and Johnny
