My story

I was diagnosed with stage 3B Lobular Carcinoma with lymph node involvement on April 1, 2008. A swollen lymph node under my arm was my only symptom. Nothing was shown on my mamogram the day I was diagnosed. An ultrasound showed a 8cm long mass. I endured grueling rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and surgeries. By the love of my family and friends and my faith in God, I made it through with a new appreciation of life!

Bone Scan

My heart hurts for a friend whose cancer has metastasized to her back, ribs and sternum. She is a fighter and I know will recover from this because of her faith and enormous support group. As I asked my oncologist yesterday, "the fear never leaves one touched by cancer, does it?". My blood levels are normal, but he ordered a bone scan scheduled for Monday to reassure us both that the pain on my vertebrae is NOT cancer. Dr. McNamara has an incredibly soothing manner. He is so in tune to his cancer patients emotions, that it amazes me. He can read me, before I say a word and is quick to understand! Plus, you can hear him coming down the hall as he whistles his favorite tune from room to room. Monday, I will have a radioactive injection at H.M.H. that will just travel to all my bones :-) Friday, I will get my results from Dr. Mac. Please pray for nice, clean (or maybe arthritic) bones.
